Election Day 2020 is finally here!
If you're anything like me, you are ready for all of the lies, mud-slinging and countless ads and commercials to just be OVER! But before this can happen, we have to get through one (1) more day - tomorrow, Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020.
This year has seen an unprecedented shift in early voting due to the coronavirus pandemic as well as, IMO (in my opinion), due to our current political climate. As of last week more than one third (1/3) of all registered voters have already cast their ballot.
I attempted to do this, I received my ballot months ago - but never mailed it or dropped it off. So I will be at the polls early tomorrow morning with my unopened ballot ready to be completed and cast, so my voice and opinion can be counted. Which brings me to my point:
YOUR VOTE MATTERS!
No matter what you've heard, I'm here to tell you it does!
You matter. Your vote matters.
Get out there and go vote!
Being registered to vote is only half of the battle, the other part is actually going out there to vote. It doesn't matter if you have an opinion, you do yourself and our nation a disservice when you fail to capture it on a ballot.
Don't like where our nation is headed? Go vote!
Don't like your state legislation? Go vote!
Don't like the decisions of your local city/county administration? Go vote!
I can't stand when people whine and complain, but never vote. I'm not talking about if you can't vote, I'm talking about people that choose not to vote. Don't even get me started if you're a woman or an African - American and choose not to vote...
This election is so important and its outcome (as all election outcomes) is a true reflection of the country: who we are and who we want to be and I'm really hoping we want to show the world we are not who we were in 2016.
