Faith or Fear: What Lens Are You Using to View COVID19?

Hey Glams,

I just did a quick IG Live a few minutes ago on this topic and wanted to also write about it. As I'm writing this, our world is facing one of the worst pandemics in recent times. Now I'm not saying this for scare tactic purposes, just giving context to what we're dealing with - coronavirus, with the current strand more specifically named COVID19.

COVID19 has had a serious and global impact on everyone and it has literally changed how we interact with one another right now. We've been told to practice social distancing - remaining at least six feet away from one another. We've been told to not hold gatherings of more than 10 people, and even that is frowned upon by most of us, to be honest. We are teleworking if our job allows it, and only essential personnel are out and about - we're basically #AloneTogether.

We're attending happy hours, church services, and graduations virtually, we're taking work out classes using Zoom, and forget about shaking anyone's hand! Parents are going crazy homeschooling kids and kids are actually bored and wanting to go to school! Oh and let's also mention our dry-as-can-be hands because we literally wash them no less than 50x a day now!

I know - I'm painting a super sad picture...so let's focus on what this post is REALLY about, which is God is bigger than all of this! God is bigger than COVID19 and God is in control!

I was texting one of my Spiritual Sisters this week and she said the most interesting thing to me:

[I'm] standing on Psalm 91...This is a[n] exciting time for believers. The Lord has promised to protect and provide for us. We will not let fear grab our hearts!

I'm going to get back to that scripture in a moment...

Read that last sentence - we will not let fear grab our hearts! I just wanted to write for myself, but also in hopes of reaching just one (1) person, someone out there who may be struggling with all of this, someone that may have some anxiety as they're taking in the abundance of information out there, God is in control!

Often times we forget about the many, Many, MANY things God has rescued us from, especially when we face times like these. Remember, we don't have to understand His Plan, He just asks us to stand on His Word and believe what He has said.

What exactly has He said? A lot, but I'm going to stick with Psalm 91 for now. Psalm 91 is 16 verses long, and I'm not going to copy all of it, but you can check it out here - but I would like to highlight some of it if you'll bear with me.

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the [a]fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and [b]buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.

*Any bold used is mine

So my question to you is - Do you believe in faith over fear? Psalm 91 is just one of several examples of God's promises to us. I want to challenge you over the next couple of months to read, meditate, and reflect on Psalm 91. Let the words resonate and penetrate and see if it doesn't help change your outlook!

What are some other scriptures or spiritual readings you like to reflect on when faced with challenges? What helps you have Faith over Fear? Let me know below and until the next time Glam Girl - Remember to leave a little sparkle wherever you go!
